Order, Family and Description

To some people, moths are represented by the Tineid clothes moths that cohabit with us and dine on our natural fiber garments and linens including silk, wool and felt. This observation and association has given rise to some symbolic phrases including "moth eaten." These moths are generally small and drab and support the unbalanced stereotype that all moths are evil. In parts of Scotland, Friesland and Bosnia, folklore defines moths as witches.
